What is Sinusitis?
Sinuses are inflamed or infected. It does not mean you have a sinus infection but you could.
Your sinuses, or rather any of your sinus cavities, could merely be inflamed from irritants or pollutants like pollen, fungi and other molds, smoke, cigarette smoke, smog, household irritants, fumes or dozens of other air-borne germs, bacteria and viruses and unknown factors.
If the pain is in your forehead directly over the frontal sinuses then those may be the culprits that are causing the problem.
Maxillary Sinuses: - you have pain around your teeth and upper jaw along with cheeks that hurt when you touch them.
Ethmoid Sinuses: - The sphenoid sinuses lie deep in the head. You can have a headache on the top of your head.
Sinusitis can be acute or chronic. Chronic sinusitis can also be treated naturally but may take little longer to get rid of.
Sinusitis Symptoms:-
(1) Experience nasal congestion and there may be a discharge with thick pus, which may be yellowish-green or simply yellowish in color.
(2) Experience pain in teeth when you bend downwards, may vary depending on the intensity of the problem.
(3) May continue for more than 10 days and they worsen after 5-6 days from infestation.
(4) May experience severe headache along with nasal congestion, also experience pain in some particular areas of the face.
(5) The eyes may appear red, bulge a little and may be painful.
(6) Experience some kind of irritation in your nose.
(7) Reported to experience double vision too, Fever with persistent cough is also a common sinusitis symptom.
Sinusitis Treatment:-
In acute stages patients can use nasal decongestants, antibiotics for the infection, pain, aches and fever remedies such as acetaminophen or even saline nasal wash from time to time.
Never use decongestants without consulting your physician as their long-time use can cause more congestion.
Chronic sinusitis is mostly treated with antibiotics and nasal decongestant sprays, for rebel sinusitis cases the “functional endoscopic sinus surgery” is required, in areas like under the upper lip, behind the eyebrows and inside the nose. Surgery isn’t 100% successful is will be used only in non-responding to any kind of treatment sinusitis.
